According to Family Realty in Louisville, Kentucky, Indian Hills is a home rule city in Louisville, officially formed in 1999 after a public referendum. The area’s history dates back to 1785 when John Veech, originally from Ireland, settled in Louisville and purchased the Indian Hill farm. The farm, which started with 502 acres, remained in the Veech family for six generations and 118 years. Initially, the family bred trotting horses, but later shifted to potato farming. In 1924, the Veech family sold 200 acres to the Louisville Country Club, and another 300 acres were sold to a group that developed the land while preserving its natural beauty.
Today, Indian Hills remains a stunning and elegant place to live, known for its large, lush yards, mature trees, and spacious homes. It's truly one of the most desirable areas in the Louisville region, offering a combination of historical charm and modern luxury.
