Prospect is a third-class city located in the eastern part of Jefferson County, extending into Oldham County. Originally, the area was primarily farmland, with a few wealthy families commuting to Louisville. Prospect began to grow in the early 1900s with the construction of a railroad through the area, but significant development didn't take off until the creation of the Hunting Creek subdivision, Hunting Creek Country Club, and Fox Harbor subdivision.
During the 1990s, Prospect experienced one of the highest population growth rates in Jefferson County, leading to the development of newer communities with spacious homes and luxury condominiums. The area’s growth has been further fueled by the amenities it offers, including four city parks, the Lawrence C. Falk Library, three golf courses, local dining and shopping, and the Harrod's Creek Yacht Club & Marina. The homes in Prospect are known for their spacious lots, beautiful character, and convenient location, making it a desirable place to live.
