According to Family Realty in Louisville, KY, the city of Jeffersontown is a pro-business full service community located in southeastern Jefferson County. J-Town, as it is known colloquially, has a population of nearly 28,700 and its workforce grows that number to about 50,000 daily.
Originally called "Brunerstwown", J-Town was purchased by Abraham Bruner in 1794. Bruner purchased 122 acres with the intention of establishing a town at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street. This intersection is now known as Watterson Trail and Taylorsville Road. Soon thereafter business owners began flocking to the area. Potters, blacksmiths and other various shops set up in the city square, saving patrons from travelling all the way to Louisville. On May 3 1797, Brunerstown was renamed to Jeffersontown in honor of Thomas Jeffferson who at the time was Vice President of the United States of America.
